Good News - I'm Not Going to End Up Homeless
Reading time: 1 minutes
This post is exactly what it says in the title.
Yesterday, we picked up the keys to our new flat and started the process of moving our stuff over.
We've got a month overlap in the contracts for the two places, so we can take our time a little bit. Hopefully that will make this move slightly less mind-breakingly stressful than the initial move up to Scotland. A friend is coming up to help next week, so I imagine the bulk of the work will be done then.
Finding this place wasn't easy. The rental market in Scotland is an absolute nightmare at the moment. We kept a spreadsheet of potential houses and these are the statistics:
- 54 potential houses found
- 50 viewings requested
- 16 viewings attended
- 10 applications submitted
That list should probably include the fact we were ghosted by at least half of the places we applied to.
But we have somewhere to live now, me and my little family. Which means everything is looking a lot brighter than it was a month ago.
And I'm even managing to write around all this stress. It's only a couple of hundred words here and there, when I have a few minutes to spare, but it's better than nothing. A couple of hundred words here and there still gets novels written.
Now I have to go finish putting everything I own into boxes. See y'all on the flip side.
